Elderly Care

The Objective of the Program
The main objective of the program is to integrate and assimilate the necessary
knowledge, skills and values ​​about the aged care service; to ensure that they are
competent elderly care technicians with the qualifications of implementing and
developing elderly care in public, private and non-governmental organizations.
Courses and Applications
In this program, Anatomy, Physiology, Elderly Care Principles and Applications,
Basic Gerontology, Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution, English,
Turkish Language, Information and Communication Technology, Diseases
Knowledge, Pharmacology, First Aid, Professional Ethics, Palliative Care, Home
Care, Elderly Psychology, Social Services in the Elderly, Rational Drug Use,
theoretical and practical courses are given.Students will have the opportunity to
practice in the institutions that serve the elderly once a week in the second year. In
addition, students have 30 working days of internship in order to gain professional
experience.

Admission Requirements
At the end of four semesters, total 120 lectures including summer internship must be
taken and at least 2.00 general academic grade average according to 4 grade
system.

Title of Graduates and Graduation document
Graduates who successfully complete the program by fulfilling all the requirements
are awarded an Associate Degree.
     
Working Areas of Graduates
 
Graduates of Elderly Care Program: Social Services and Child Protection Agency,
Municipalities, Hospitals, Non-Governmental Organizations and Private Institutions
where elderly care services are carried out; nursing homes, elderly care homes,
dormitories for the elderly, day centers for the elderly, hospice (home care in the
terminal period), home care services, organizing the elderly's home, protected
dwellings and so on. work under expert supervision.

Vertical Transitions
Graduates of the Elderly Care Program are eligible to receive a Associate Degree if
they pass the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by the Student Selection and
Placement Center (OSYM).
